GVA Hogosha Yari
The Yari was a common yet fearsome polearm used throughout Japanese history.
Historically, the Yari was often used by foot soldiers to create space on the battlefield as they have several situational advantages over a katana.
Our GVA Hogosha Yari blade is forged of 1095 High carbon steel , hand sharpened with a dual edged tip and attached to a hardwood staff via two heavy brass mekugi pins .
Featuring our custom Kanji engraved blade with no bo-hi and joined at the centre via screw shaft, this is a heavy weapon which is able to be split apart at the centre into two pieces.
The top section of the Yari is steel and the second section hardwood.
This also allows for a short handed Japanese spear and Heavy Hanbo.
We have taken elements in design from both the Su yari & Sakaku Yari and forged them into a modern classic Heavy Yari.
Designed exclusively in-house by GVA, the Hogosha Yari is perfect for demonstration and can be forged in either
live or Iaito style ( dull edge) .
