The Ni-Mai Dō became one of the most common armor designs used during the last 100 years of the Sengoku Era. The Ito-mono used for this armor style, are long single plates, that are overlapped and then riveted or laced together, forming a sleek, thick, robust and shock-absorbing armor. This form of crafting made for faster crafting time and a more efficient use of materials. The dō is also much easier to maintain then the earlier style of kozan yoroi.
Our apprentice katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) will craft this Kachi samurai armor using a traditional Ni-Mai dō (2 section chest) without a hinge joining the front and back. We will craft your yoroi for your size, then paint and lace it according to your instructions. Our katchû-shi is also happy to custom craft your preference of helmet, mask and shin armor, as well as any other options you choose.
