Sengoku Samurai Armor sets are crafted with attention and focus on the armor designs which were more common to the Sengoku Era (Warring State Era). These armor sets are a little more plain in appearance as money was spent more on war campaigns and less on embellishments of armor.
The mengu (facial armor) was often opened face, to allow for unobstructed vision and breathing. Sengoku Samurai Armor sets also tended to lackextra brass, padded edges around the haidate (armored apron) and hemp was favored over silk.
As the wars ended and the Edo Era started, Daimyo and Samurai had more money to invest on their armor. It was this development of wealth which started the investment and embellishing of their armor sets. These embellishments were to show their Clan’s wealth as they paraded to and from the capital city.
Sengoku Samurai Armor sets are offered with either a wide face hanbo (A facial armor that covers the chin and lower cheeks only) or a narrow face hoate (A mask without a nose, that covers the face below the eyes). This particular samurai gusoku (matching armor set) is shown with the optional mayu (simulated eyebrows) on a zunari style kabuto
