Yugake - Leather Gloves
These fine Leather Yugake (Yukake – samurai gloves) are handmade with white or tanned leather or egawa (printed designs on genuine leather). They are the perfect accessory for comfort and added protection for sword use. Designed after original yukake leather gloves used by samurai in the Sengoku and Edo Eras. The Iron Mountain Armory yugake gloves are crafted from quality leather with several options of egawa design. Traditionally the white leather would be smoked to give it a yellow or brown color (Fusube gawa), and the designs would be hand painted onto the leather. The Iron Mountain Armory uses tanned leather and prints the designs directly in the leather. This modern technique helps keep our leather yugake very affordable compared to more traditional egawa yugake. Please inquire about custom design options.
