Iyozane no So-Fukurin Taisho Yoroi
Our artisan katchû-shi will take great pride in handcrafting this magnificent Iyozane no So-Fukurin Yoroi with traditional techniques. The meticulous crafting of this Taisho class samurai armor set takes over 35 days of intensely focused work to accurately reproduce the “tosei” gusoku mimicking the classical “kozane” gusoku. The design utilizes Kiritsuke Iyo-zane simulated scale plates, that are laced together to form a 2 piece chest armor. It is then bound together using a pin-hinge, known as an Okegawa dō. The So-Fukurin is the thin brass trim that is carefully added as an edging around the kabuto (helmet), giving it a more luxurious appearance. This particular yoroi set features an engraved brass dragon on the visor of the kabuto. This yoroi style was a popular armor used by high-ranking samurai warriors and Daimyo during the Edo period.
Our best artisan Taisho katchû-shi focus on quality over quantity and like the original katchû-shi. Their sense of honor will not risk jeopardizing their reputation by crafting inferior quality armor. They are happy to take on new challenges by customizing every detail of your Iyozane no So-Fukurin armor to your specifications. Every piece of armor is crafted as traditionally as possible.
